I think what Picasso means by this quote is that, when we begin life as children, we have seemingly endless creativity, curiosity, and energy. We enjoy using our curiosity in order to have fun in creative ways. As we get older, some of that energy and curiosity goes away, and with it we lose some of our creativity. Instead of coming up with art projects and making up new games to play, we go on Facebook and hang out with friends. We dismiss using our creativity by saying things along the lines of, "That's what children do. It's not cool to do that." I think Picasso means that if we use our creativity more, and stay curious, we will keep some of our creativity. This does not mean that we should pretend to be unicorns hunting for the magical dragon when we are grown men, but maybe if we found creative things to do, we could stay artists as we grow up.
