Thinking about the Artist

Who is an artist?  What does it mean to be creative?  In three or four sentences, describe what an artist needs to be productive and creative?


Creativity is the human ability to make something new or special.  When we use our imagination to make a new game, paint a new picture, or write a new song, we are using our creativity.  Artists are people who express themselves through their creativity.  They use it to produce beautiful, thought-provoking pieces of artwork.


Anyone can be an artist if they have the interest and commitment to try.  In order to be creative and productive as artists, we must be serious about our work and never be self conscious of how our work looks.  One of the great things about art is that there is no "right" or "wrong" to it.  You can make a brilliant piece of art with any materials.  All you need is your imagination and some inspiration, and the rest will seem to fix itself.
